Do your feelings overwhelm you when talking to others about the climate emergency? Do you feel disengaged from climate action? \nPresented by Waste Free Edmonton and Not Ladylike Community\, our peer facilitated Climate Chats help you work through your big feelings of anxiety and eco-distress\, and reconnect with taking action in your community. \nOur goals for this peer-led session are to help you: \n\nDirectly address and accept your feelings about the climate crisis\nRecognize the community you are building and craft deeper connections to each other\nDiscover and access the internal mechanisms that keep you motivated\nBuild your tolerance for guilt\, shame\, anxiety\nCultivate your imagination\, creativity\, hopefulness\nPractice heart-centered and confident dialogue\nIgnite your self-compassion\nFeel re-engaged with climate action\n\nSession starts promptly at 3pm. \nWorkshop is located in the basement of Audrey’s Books on Jasper Ave. There is no elevator access. Please check with staff for directions to the event space. \nThis workshop is best for mature teens and older. Facilitation is in English only. Do your feelings overwhelm you when talking to others about the climate emergency?” \nOur community centered Climate Chats work directly with attendees to re-engage with local climate action\, work through your big feelings of anxiety\, grief and sadness\, and re-ignite hope in the possibility of a brighter future. \nWhat is Climate Chats?\nClimate Chats is a small-group workshop that will help you directly address your climate grief and anxiety. Throughout our evening together\, our Climate Chats facilitator will guide you through various exercises designed to help you explore and name your big feelings\, practice listening\, and tap into your values to plan your next action. \nWorking in community allows us to: \n\nengage with our feelings and climate action in a safe and supported environment\nget some external accountability and ideas to help realign our actions with our environmental values\npractice having difficult conversations\n\nACCESSIBILITY INFO\n\nBus\, train\, bike or drive: there are two LRT stations across the street\, many bus routes 1-2 blocks away\, bike racks\, and paid parking in the area\nThe building is wheelchair accessible with barrier free washrooms\nThe table has legs at both ends and armless plastic chairs\nThere is no ASL interpreter\, and all facilitation and instructions will be given in English (speaking and writing)\nYou will have a workbook to doodle and draw in\, but feel free to bring a fidget tool as needed\nWe won’t be playing any music\, and the private room will protect our space from some of the ambient library noise\nMasks are strongly encouraged\, but not required. That being said\, please do not attend if you are feeling sick\, have tested positive for covid. We will arrange a refund if you cannot attend for this reason.\n\nDoors: 6:20pm \nSession starts at 6:30pm prompt\, and runs until 8:30pm \nDon’t rush out! We have the room until 9:00pm.
